In "Contra vs. Contra," Devin Monnens mixes Konami's Contra and historical footage related to the Iran-Contra affair to create a piece that mixes video art and political commentary. A provocative use of videogame footage. -- HEL

"I label Contra vs Contra as an experimental documentary. It's main purpose is to provide information on Iran-Contra but to also illustrate the degrees to which we take war so lightly - at times as frivolous, as a game. There are also references to cheating in games (such as the Konami Code) and the use of tool-assisted speedruns is sometimes contested; these too have relations to Oliver North's destruction of evidence and forging of documents and his treatment of the whole thing as a game." -- Devin Monnens
